The Art of Mushin
Mushin, a Zen term, literally translated means ‘Clear Mind’ or ‘No Mind’. The Art of Mushin leads to a state of awareness that one enters into which is void of distracting thoughts, ideas, judgments and emotions (fear, doubt, anxiety, anger, etc.), which in turn produces a state of mental clarity and heightened perception, sometimes referred to as Mindfulness.
Through the Art of Mushin the mind is no longer bound by fear or self consciousness. No longer distracted, inhibited or congested, ones awareness is free to be totally present to the moment; spontaneous, open, focused and expanded. When in a state of Mushin, one is also free to use thoughts, concepts and ideas without being used by them.
This state of Mushin is attained through a process of Zen meditation, which is a centerpiece of All Ways Zen. Through dedicated practice this art can help one to transform negative emotions into clear thinking and deep insights, elicit the ‘relaxation response’ which helps dissolve the stress component behind many physical ailments and turn inner conflicts into teachings for personal and spiritual growth.

Awesome! What a great ability to achieve free use of thoughts rather than thoughts controlling oneself. Thanks!
