Who do you study from to stimulate and improve yourself?
Are you self taught and motivated from within? Do you seek out mentors? Gurus? Coaches?
I’ve chosen to spend many years of my life studying with a variety of teachers. I’ve always had an insatiable thirst of learning ways to improve myself.
Mostly I’ve wanted to know the fastest ways to create (and maintain) a healthy and balanced life, on all fronts – mentally, emotionally, physically, energetically and spiritually.
It has been an extremely challenging journey (at times). Why? Because there are so many different methods, approaches, teachings, life skills, techniques, exercise and such … that finding a clear path to follow has often been overwhelming.
Should I follow these teachings? Should I practice those exercises? Should I follow that way of thinking, eating, meditating, working, etc? I’ve found myself wading through many contradictions and half truths that at times it was almost impossible to know who to follow or trust. Have you been there?
What I have come to realize is this:
Although it is very important to have great teachers and mentors, it is equally important to be taught how to find the answers from within ourselves. Perhaps that is the greatest teaching a teacher can offer … a path to personal discovery and self realization.
I have given myself permission to take all of my teachers insights and instructions and combine them with my own unique self discoveries and my own personal practice.
To me this feels like the most honest and genuine way to approach life. Always giving sincere thanks to the people in your life who are helping you and teaching you … but never live behind them or under them.
Learn from them and then learn how to learn from your own experiences. You will never know your full potential until you let it surface. All great men and women in our world have been driven from within to make new discoveries, break records and reach new understandings. Had they not trusted within themselves these things would not have happened. These moments in life are the great Awakening, Insight, Epiphany, Break-Through, Ah Ha, Light Bulb Moment or Satori.
If you’ve been reading the other posts and pages from my blog then you know everything that I teach is all about Satori — “Awakening”.
Ultimately you are the only one who knows what is most right for you … providing you trust the Real You. That’s the key, that’s the secret and that’s the path. Do everything you can to uncover the Real You and then start making life-shaping decisions and taking conscious actions that turn your life into the one you want to be living.
Would you like to learn what I teach at my Zen Dojo? I have taken everything I’ve been exposed to, over the past 25 years, and integrated what I found to be most useful into a clear process containing 4 core life-mastery skills; I have named it Satori Method. People tell me they love it because it isn’t rigid or self imposing.
The method offers the student awesome techniques and teachings and then places the core of the discovery process right back onto the student. Remember, awakening comes from within. Your True Nature is within. All of the answers to your ‘particular’ life will come from within YOU.
You can check out the Satori Method HERE … it’s offered locally (Austin, Texas) and soon it will be offered on the world wide web!
There is a FREE Gift on the site for a short time – The Art of Mushin – I think you will love this meditation. There is beautiful relaxing music and easy steps to follow that guide you into a deep state of awareness. This meditation program is my gift to you … a way to help you uncover your True Self :-}
Warmly,
Tristan
